What Is the Wave BJJ Affiliate Programme?

Wave BJJ is a Roger Gracie black belt lineage academy based in Chiswick, West London. Our affiliate programme is designed for BJJ coaches and gym owners who want access to a structured grading pathway, a proven beginner syllabus, ongoing mentorship and genuine marketing support — without the overhead of a large affiliation.

Standards

What We Expect

These standards exist to protect your students, your academy and the integrity of the lineage.

Coaching Standards

  • ▸Valid first aid certificate required.
  • ▸DBS check required if teaching minors.
  • ▸Professional conduct on and off the mat at all times.
  • ▸Zero tolerance for coaching under the influence.

On the Mat Standards

  • ▸The Wave BJJ beginner syllabus must be followed for all new students.
  • ▸Grading criteria must be adhered to — no fast tracking of belts.
  • ▸All gradings must be approved by Lorenzo before being awarded.
  • ▸Black belt promotions require Lorenzo to be present.
  • ▸A strong tap and safety culture must be maintained in every class.

Representing the Lineage

  • ▸No public disputes or negative commentary about Wave BJJ, the Roger Gracie lineage or affiliated academies.
  • ▸Social media conduct must reflect the values of the academy.
  • ▸If the affiliation ends, all belts already awarded remain valid. Future gradings will require a new affiliation to be in place.

Business and Admin

  • ▸Monthly fee paid by standing order with no gaps in payment.
  • ▸Lorenzo must be notified of any significant changes — new head coach, change of location or closure.
  • ▸A minimum of one annual check-in is required, either by visiting Wave BJJ in London or Lorenzo visiting the affiliate academy.
  • ▸Affiliates are expected to host or attend a minimum of one Wave BJJ seminar per year. Where Lorenzo travels to the affiliate academy, travel costs and accommodation for overnight stays are covered by the affiliate. No seminar fee is charged.

Affiliation works both ways. As your head coach and affiliate partner, Lorenzo commits to:

  • Responding to all grading and coaching questions within 48 hours.
  • Making himself available for a call at least once a month if requested.
  • Providing honest, direct feedback — not a passive rubber stamp affiliation.
  • Supporting your growth with genuine marketing, mentorship and access to everything Wave BJJ has built.

Head Coach

About Your Head Coach

Lorenzo Fraquelli is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under the Roger Gracie lineage and the founder of Wave BJJ. He has been coaching BJJ in West London since 2013 and has built Wave BJJ into one of the most respected academies in the city. Alongside BJJ, Lorenzo has built and grown Society Members Club — a multi-discipline training facility — giving him direct experience in the business side of running a martial arts academy.
